Invicta Dynamics 2 Chelmsford Cobras 4

December 5th 1998, Women's League Division One - South

Cobras started this game with their backs immediately up against the wall when they took their only penalty of the game before the opening face-off, with Canadian goalie Dani DeVito taking a minor for not removing her helmet during the National Anthem.

Whilst the Cobras killed off the penalty with little or no trouble, they still seemed to be having trouble getting out of first gear, and their first shot on the Invicta goal wasn't until six minutes into the game. This wasn't a problem though, as Katy Allen found a way past the home goalie to open the scoring.

This failed to ignite the game, and within the last 30 seconds of the period Invicta finally made one of their shots count, as Heidi Korff was able to gather her own rebound and tie the scores going into the first break.

The second period continued the lacklustre style of the game, and it wasn't until just over halfway in the game when Katy Allen notched her second, the assist being the first league point for Becky Preen, and just under two minutes later, Cobras player of the game had her, and the team's third goal, assisted this time by Jen Stedman.

The third period saw many more Cobras shots - but only one of these found the back of the net, from Jen Stedman - and they restricted Invicta to three shots, and one of these, from Carmelina Vinci finished the scoring.

Scoring:

Invicta: Heidi Korff 1+0(0), Carmelina Vinci 1+0(0), Julie Dennis 0+1(0), Rhonda Root 0+1(0), Jenny Vik 0+1(0), Rebecca Sands 0+1(0), Robyn Mapp 0+0(2), Tammy Phipps 0+0(2)

Chelmsford: Katy Allen 3+0(0), Jen Stedman 1+1(0), Becky Preen 0+1(0), Dani DeVito 0+0(2)
