Chelmsford Cobras 6 Milton Keynes Falcons 2

Both teams came into this game on a run of disappointing results and missing a number of players, so the first few minutes saw each team trying to examine their opponents potential weaknesses.

A tripping minor for Milton Keynes saw the Falcons successfully absorb the Chelmsford pressure. However, it was only 5 seconds after they returned to full strength when Rachel Kearn opened the scoring for the Cobras. Just over 30 seconds later Emma Stott was on hand to double the Cobras' lead.

With ten minutes gone, Milton Keynes again pressed forward, and a long shot from player of the game, Kirsty Krater somehow found its way through a number of legs and into the back of the net to half the deficit.

The second period began with another minor for the Falcons, which was again killed. This time it took 30 seconds for Cobras to score again, with Rachel Kearn notching her second of the night, again assisted by Katy Allen to give the Cobras a 3-1 lead, with the shots on goal seeing Cobras ahead 20-4.

The final period was a lot more eventful, with the Falcons reducing the arrears to a single goal, within the first minute. It took Chelmsford a couple of minutes to reacquire their two goal lead, with Stacey Wood scoring the goal of the game as she lofted the puck into the far corner of the net from the right wing.

At this point both teams started to tighten up the defensive parts of their games, and most of the action was in the neutral zone, this section of the game saw another Falcons penalty. Once again the powerplay was neutralised.

But it only took 14 seconds for the Cobras to capitalise, this time through Jen Stedman. In the last thirty seconds, Chelmsford's player of the game, Rachel Kearn was on hand to complete her hat trick and the scoring, giving the Cobras a 6-2 win. Cobras' outshooting their visitors 30-8 in the game.

The next game for the Cobras sees the visit of Invicta Dynamics to Riverside, on February 19th. Face-off is at 17:15. All supporters are welcome to see the Cobras attempt to get revenge for their early season loss at Invicta.

Chelmsford: Rachel Kearn 3+0(0), Jen Stedman 1+1(0), Emma Stott 1+1(2), Stacey Wood 1+0(2), Katy Allen 0+3(0).

Milton Keynes: Kirsty Krater 1+0(0), Shelley Owen 1+0(0), Lindsay Corroll 0+0(6).
